It was great to see Belhus fielding five elevens once more as we made the trip to Hockerill CC. On a lovely sunny afternoon, played on a shirtfront batting pitch and a lightning outfield, the hosts understandably batted first. Irving (28) and Beverley (31) got Hockerill off to a flyer racing to 50 in just five overs. But Stewart Farr (2-5) broke the partnership and from then on Belhus applied the brakes. Teddy Waters bowled beautifully to take 3 for 19 off 7 overs. Ethan Barnett was extremely tidy - conceding just 17 from 7 overs and Henry Overy and Tyler Robertson both took a wicket apiece. G.Vernon did hit some big blows in making 33 for Hockerill as they made 142-7 from their 35 overs.

After a fine tea, Belhus got off to an excellent start as Ryan Prendergast (34) with 6 boundaries and young Henry Overy (37) with 4 boundaries, opened the way for Belhus with a partnership of 70. Mike Squires kept the momentum up with 25 including 5 fours, and Ethan Barnett saw Belhus home with 19 not out with 4 fours. A fine performance from a young Belhus side. Welcome back the 5ths !
