Match report Belhus visited Horndon for their first U13 league encounter of the season. Batting first Belhus made a fast start as Alex Blake (12) hit a four and a six but Belhus were pegged back to 40-4 as Littlemoden (2-8) and the Nicholls brothers with a wicket apiece bowled well for the home side. But Aidan Fourie (25 not out) and Billy Kilduff (10) made a fine partnership of 40 to get Belhus back on track as they totalled 112-7 from their 24 overs. Dixey and Elliot also took wickets for Horndon who bowled very well as a unit and fielded tightly to make runs hard work for our boys.

Belhus knew they would need to bowl and field well if they were going to win the match and they duly delivered. All 10 Belhus bowlers bowled a fine line and length to really squeeze the Horndon batting effort. Dixey and Philpott both made 10 but Belhus were frugal with the ball giving away only 4 wides and 2 no balls which was a great effort. There were one wicket returns for Puneet, Bal, Tyler Robertson, Alex Blake, Henry Overy and Owen Williams plus sound catches for Fourie and Callum Constantine too. But this really was a team effort as the boys managed to bowl 8 maidens out of their 24 overs conceding just 43 runs in total in a great all round effort in their out cricket. Credit though to Horndon who defended stoutly and did not throw their wickets away batting their overs out defiantly. A good win for Belhus to begin their league campaign.
