Belhus Cricket Club Lost by 70 Runs

Match report Batting first on a green, well-grassed pitch, Westcliff rode their luck but did well to post 41 for the 1st wicket. Belhus then reined in the Westcliff batting and at 121 for 4 after 28 overs, things looked promising. However, a 5th wicket partnership of 76 by Kenyke (32) and the ex Westcliff 1st team captain Wade (68) changed the match. Chances were missed but 246 for 6 off the allotted 50 overs was a very good, demanding, score on a sporting wicket.

In reply, Belhus lost 2 early wickets and although Charlie Lewis hammered 73 off 61 balls, no one else really gave him any significant support and the innings rather petered out to 176 all out. Westcliff took their chances and made the most of the 50 over allotment. They were deserved victors on the day.

The news that the chasing pack in the division hadn't won their games rather saved the day.
