Match report Saturday saw the abatement of the heatwave...the cooler temperature was most welcome but instead of heat, Belhus was visited by A Tempest...a 40 mph gale which upended chairs, pagodas and generally made cricketing most unpleasant. A wild day at North Stifford.

Batting first, Belhus opened up with 76 for the 1st wicket between Matt Williams (23) and skipper Lewis (46), again the wicket offering pace and bounce. Further good knocks by Ross Fullbrook (46 on debut for the 2s) and 43 from Jake Wolfe, continuing his good form of late, pushed Belhus up to 249 for 8 at tea. Probably 30 short of a par score for the very good wicket and arid outfield, the game was poised.

In reply, Woodford started aggressively with 30 for the 1st wicket and looked dangerous. Then entering centre stage and bristling with intent, Matt Williams. Bowling uphill into the gale he bowled superbly, reminding everyone of when he first came into the 2s - a full length, attacking the stumps and reaping the rewards with 6 for 33. He won the game for Belhus...a superb piece of bowling in extremely difficult conditions. The catch Jamie Fairweather took at point to remove the dangerous Asghar was brilliant...low to his right and travelling. He took it with nonchalance and made everyone smile - he wasn't sure what all the bother was about.

At 120 for 8 the game was looking won but a whirlwind 76 by Singh, fairly appropriate in the weather conditons, gave Woodford a chance of victory. Imran then decided enough was enough and took out the last 2 wickets...and everyone breathed easily again. Wayne Read kept wicket very well in difficult conditons.
