Match report Batting first at 'The Rec', Belhus lost an early wicket on a very dry, patchy wicket. However, a very good partnership of 78 from Matt Williams (28) playing very watchfully, and Charlie Lewis with a very powerful, well-struck 54 built a platform. Unfortunately, 84 for 1 became 137 for 5 through poor, shoddy shot selection. The situation was rectified by two good partnerships of 34 from Jamie Fairweather (32) and the skipper Lewis and latterly 39 with Imran who again smashed the ball everywhere. Jamie Fairweather batted with aplomb, driving and cutting with a style beyond his young age. 210 at tea was a very good score on a sporting deck.

In reply, Westcliff struggled against the disciplined Belhus attack. Antonio bowled a great spell (3 for 41) and with Deepak (3 for 41) adding control. Billy Maidment (1 for 17) and Matt Williams (2 for 23) finished the job off even though Harrison (56) offered resistance. Wayne Read kept very well to take 3 catches and a stumping. .. a fine effort.

Belhus are playing well but the litmus test beckons with games against Hainault and Orsett in the next few weeks.
