Belhus Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI v West Essex 2nd XI on Sat 12 May 2018 at 12.30pm
Belhus Cricket Club Won by 9 Wickets
Match report
West Essex 2nd XI 102 all out
Belhus 2nd XI 106-1
On a day where rain was forecast, Belhus won an important toss and inserted West Essex on a green but firm pitch. Imran (2 for 35) and Jamie Fairweather (2 for 16) opened the bowling and with their consistent, hit the seam and resulting movement off the pitch took out the top three. Deepak (3 for 23) and Antonio (3 for 27) then entered the fray and continued the good work. Benjamin offered resistance with 29 but Deepak produced his Doosra and bowled him all ends up. - a lovely piece of bowling. Sam Hall took a brilliant running catch on the long-on boundary to get rid of the dangerous Shinwari and West Essex were all out for 102.
After tea, the intent was to get the runs as quickly as possible before the weather intervened. After an early wicket, Dudmish with his neat, well-organised, stroke play scored 29 not out and Matt Williams with a lovely, well-struck 52 not out sped Belhus to a 9 wicket win.
An excellent win which was amplified by the news that no other team had gained a positive result on the rain-hit day.
