Belhus Cricket Club Won By 9 Wickets

Match report Belhus won their final group D match in this years Brian Taylor Trophy competition, beating Old Southendian and Southchurch CC on a steaming hot Sunday morning at North Stifford. The visitors won the toss and elected to bat. Tyler Robertson struck an early blow bowling Shahzad for a duck but Richardson (10) and Batt (33*) dug in adding a solid partnership of 47. Henry Overy eventually removed Richardson but Cornwell (18) joined Batt and they added another solid partnership of 39 before skipper Lewis Blake ran out Cornwell. This opened the floodgates as Belhus took a further 4 wickets for just 1 run, Overy ending up with 2 for 10 and Robertson 3 for 3. There was a run out and a catch for Alexander Winder too as Belhus restricted OSSCC to 100-7.


Belhus suffered a shock as Lewis Blake was bowled by Russell by the first ball of the innings. But Rob Healy and Alex Winder combined with a fine unbeaten partnership of 104 to take Belhus to victory by 9 wickets. Healy made 54 not out with 9 fours and Winder made 40 with 7 fours.


Sadly results did not go Belhus's way and we did not qualify as one of the top two in their group but a third placed finish winning four games from six was a fine effort. Well done boys.
