Match report The two unbeaten teams in group D of the Brian Taylor Trophy met at North Stifford on Sunday morning under grey skies. Belhus ran their visitors Billericay close but they kept their nerve to get over the line and claim a three wicket win.

Belhus lost the toss and were invited to bat. They were soon in trouble losing the in form Henry Overy and Robert Healy both bowled for 8 a piece by H.Morgan (2 for 32). Lewis Blake made 12 but fell to Banks (2 for 21). Oliver Plunkett (16) and Sammy Fairweather (9) added the highest Belhus partnership of 23 but wickets fell regularly as O'Connor (2 for 10) and Porter (2 for 8) kept the pressure on. Charlotte Waters and Lucas Barnett added a valuable 21 for the last wicket to nudge Belhus up to 100 all out but the total felt slightly under par.


Belhus needed a good start and when Tyler Robertson clean bowled opener O'Connor for 11 Belhus were on a high. But opener Morgan was batting well for Billericay and he and Porter (13) added 31 before Dante Denton (1 for 11) removed Porter. Sammy Fairweather (1-9) and Charlotte Waters (1-7, thanks to a good catch by Robertson) kept Belhus in with a chance. The excellent Henry Overy proved miserly bowling three successive maidens and taking a wicket also. Lewis Blake took another wicket and when Denton made a run out the drama was peaking as Billericay were wobbling at 98-7. But Morgan held firm hitting a boundary to win the game as he made a fine 46 not out. A good effort by Belhus who pushed a good Billericay side hard. Certainly there was no disgrace in losing this match.
