Belhus Cricket Club Won By 26 Runs

Match report Belhus hosted Orsett and Thurrock in their second Brian Taylor Trophy match. Skipper Lewis Blake won the toss and elected to bat. Blake made a steady 17 against the accurate early bowling but the mainstays of the Belhus innings were Robert Healy (who made his maiden half century) with a powerfully struck 51 not out from just 32 balls with six boundaries and Henry Overy with a fine innings of 42 from 48 balls with five boundaries. Belhus totalled a competitive 159-7 from their 25 overs. Brandon Millard was the lead bowler for O and T with 3 wickets for 21 off five overs.

Belhus knew that the visitors had some dangerous batsmen and would need to bowl and field well. Opening bowlers Tyler Robertson and Kyle Hewson gave Belhus a great start removing both openers in their first respective overs to reduce the visitors to 10 for 2. But Callum Greene is a fine striker of the ball and he and Brandon Millard added 73 for the third wicket before Hewson made the breakthrough with a fine run out to remove Millard. Dante Denton they made in roads taking 2 for 6 assisted by catches from Aidan Fourie and Oliver Plunkett. Skipper Blake then made a key breakthrough as Greene skied a chance to Plunkett who took a fine catch, Greene out for an excellent 55. Seaton (11) and Cook (21) bravely took the attack to Belhus but two smart run outs in quick succession by Henry Overy removed them both. Robertson returned in the final over to take two further wickets, ending up with fine figures of 3 for 9 from 2.4 overs. Orsett and Thurrock all out for 133, Belhus winning a evenly matched contest by 26 runs.
