Match report Belhus played their first group match of the Under 12 Brian Taylor Trophy on a very hot sunny morning at Spring Farm Park, the home of Rainham CC. The home side won the toss and invited Belhus to bat. Skipper Lewis Blake and Oliver Plunkett opened the batting and proceeded to make hay in the sun. Running hard and batting solidly, the pair added an unbeaten 105 for the first wicket before young Blake eased his way to his first ever half century. Lewis retired on 51 to take a breather from the hot sun, as did Oliver who made a patient 26. Alex Winder (20 not out) and Robert Healy (22 not out) batted with attacking intent and ran unselfishly to raise the Belhus total to an impressive 159-1 from their 25 overs. Their partnership was the perfect end of innings impetus adding 51 runs in the last six overs. It was hard work for the Rainham bowlers in the hot sun but credit to Alex Porter who conceded just five runs from his two overs.

Belhus took to the field and it was pleasing to see all the Belhus bowlers pitch the ball up and bowl a good line to keep the Rainham batting in check. Large credit to opener Leo Fevzi-Hunt who played exceptionally well to carry his bat through the 25 overs for 32 not out. Belhus shared the wickets around with Henry Overy leading the way with 2 for 6. Tyler Robertson (1-4), Alex Winder (1-8) and Owen Williams (1-11) also took wickets and there were run outs too for Robertson and Dante Denton.

It was a good all round display from Belhus with only a few dropped catches taking a little gloss off of what was a very good performance - Belhus winning by a convincing 96 runs.
