After defeating Westcliff-on-Sea, Hutton, Woodford Wells and Southend-on-Sea & EMT in the preliminary rounds, we met Chingford CC in the Final of the Dukes Essex League Cup - played in glorious sunshine at Wickford Cricket Club on Bank Holiday Monday.

Batting first, Chingford posted a very respectable 285 for 8 in their allotted 50 overs thanks to a fine century by Alfie Taylor and support from Alex Agedah (64) and Peter McDermott (53). Joe Joyce was our lead wicket-taker with 4 for 56.

In our run-chase, we got off to a quick start with 60 coming up in the first 10 overs. But despite a stoic 64 from skipper Danny Joyce we couldn't quite keep up the pace and were dismissed for 211 as Ben MacGregor took 4 for 21 and we lost by 74 runs. Well played Chingford.

This was the club's first appearance in an Essex League Cup final.
