Belhus Cricket Club Lost by 40 Runs

Match report On a beautiful sunny morning at North Stifford the Belhus U9 started their league season by welcoming Stanford Le Hope to the Village Green. Josh won the toss and elected to bowl first and this seemed a good decision as Alex took two early wickets and a run out. Good spells by all the boys during their two-over stints however did not see the fall of any other wickets and a good SLH finished on 256 - 3 ( Net 241 )

In reply, we struggled to get going against a very good SLH bowling line up and lost early wickets however Freddy and Stan played well and consolidated the innings. Good batting at the end by Zahn ( on debut ) and Josh was not enough to pull back the total and the boys finished on 236 - 7 ( Net 201 ) which resulted in a 40 run defeat.

I have to say however that all the boys on the day were a credit to Belhus Cricket Club in the way they behaved and how they kept going against strong opposition on the day. A big thank you must also go Adam Dudmish for umpiring the match and to Emma Williams for providing refreshments throughout the morning for all the spectators.

Well done boys and I am looking forward to next week's encounter with Basildon and Pitsea.
