Belhus Cricket Club Lost by 29 Runs

Match report Belhus lost their final Peter Coe Cup match of 2017 by 29 runs. Again extras were our downfall as we gifted the opposition with 43 runs including 32 in wides and no balls.

Loughton batted first and totalled a healthy 169-6 from their 25 overs. Chauhan top scored with 40, Boparai made a powerful 33 and Chapman a steady 28. The Belhus wickets came from Tom Anderson, Ted Waters (who also both made run outs) and Reece Herbert. Charlie Ovey also made a fine run out and Tyler Robertson bagged the only Belhus catch of the day.

In reply skipper Waters fell agonisingly short of a maiden half century as he was caught behind for 49 (including 6 boundaries). Fellow opener Lewis Blake made 28 (with 4 boundaries) a they added 91 for the first wicket. While Belhus fell 29 runs short there was some fine hitting late on from Anderson who made 21 not out with 2 fours and a rare 5. Coope was the most successful Loughton bowler with 2-23. Chapman and Gardiner took the other wickets as the home side eased to their win.
