BRENTWOOD 6th XI* v Belhus Cricket Club Saturday 5th XI on Sat 27 Aug 2016 at 1pm
Belhus Cricket Club Won by 73 Runs
Match report
Belhus 5s continued their good run with a third successive win against Brentwood.
Playing at Great and Little Warley CC, the game was played in warm conditions. Stand-in skipper Jim Robertson lost the toss and Brentwood invited Belhus to bat. Jack Thomas carried on where he left off last week in rmaking a second successive hundred. His 144 replacing last week's effort as the highest score by a Belhus 5th XI batsman. Jack and Ryan Prendergast added 105 for the first wicket - the second week running a century opening partnership was chalked up for the 5s. Thomas hit powerfully, crashing 20 fours and 3 mighty sixes before falling to a fine run out by Brentwood's captain D.Cross. Jordan Sullivan made a sprightly 44 not out with 7 fours and Don East hit 23 not our with 5 boundaries as Belhus totalled 259. Raj took 2-54 for the visitors.
After a fine tea kindly supplied by Brentwood, the match resumed. Raj led the charge with 54 but Bradley Bunce (3-38) stemmed the flow. There were wickets for Ryan Prendergast, Jordan Sullivan, Billy Sloan and, for the second successive week, young Tyler Robertson aged just ten. Wilf Gansbuhler then mopped up proceedings grabbing 3 for 3.
Credit to Brentwood who played the match in fine spirit and contributed well to a very enjoyable match.
