Belhus Cricket Club Lost by 4 Runs

Match report Belhus lost narrowly in an exciting match against Rankins at North Stifford. The visitors batted first and started well as Holland (14)and Van Isenburg (13)got them off to a strong start. Alex Blake hit back with a caught and bowled and then Lewis Blake and Tyler Robertson held good catches to pick up wickets for Ryan Sims and Callum Constantine. Then Rankins hit back again as Grey, Toomey and Martin all made 15 apiece before retiring. Tyler Robertson also picked a wicket in the last over as Rankins totalled 116-4 from their 22 allotted overs.

In reply Belhus started strongly as Alex Blake (16), Teddy Waters (15) and Henry Overy (18) all batted well. Lewis Blake made 10 and Tyler Robertson 6 but the Rankins bowling was tidy and Belhus lost wickets to a string of run outs as they tried desperately to reach their target. Off the last ball they required 4 runs to tie but they were unable make contact and slipped to a narrow defeat. It was nonetheless a fine effort against a strong opposition and an excellent game.
