Belhus Cricket Club Lost by 38 Runs

Match report The door closed on Belhus's league season with semi final defeat against East Division winners Rankins at Broomhills on a humid sunny Saturday morning.

Belhus won the toss and invited the home side to bat. The Rankins side batted well, all of them contributing runs throughout. They put the bad ball away well and called and ran between the wickets with good skill. Tuskin (15) and Dobie (14) top scored. There were highlights for Belhus who strived hard in hot conditions, Alex Winder bowled very well taking 2 wickets, both clean bowled, in two balls ending up with figures of 2 for 10. Lewis Blake picked up 1 for 4 and Kaelan Casey repeated Winder's trick of two wickets in two balls, also both bowled, as he took 2 for 21. Rankins total of 306-5 meant a netted back total of 281.

Belhus had a tough target to make but started well as Alex Blake made 11 and Alex Winder 9 but Rankins squeezed the Belhus progress as Mcfadden, Dobie and Isenburg all took a wicket apiece. As Belhus desperately sought to up the run rate they suffered three run outs but they battled hard with Henry Overy made 12 to top score but the home side attack proved to accurate as Belhus totalled 273-6 netted back to 243.

Despite the disappointment of a defeat, Belhus can reflect on a fine league season where they have played some excellent cricket and have improved and developed their skills considerably. Well done to all the players and my thanks to all the players and parents for their hard work and support.
