Match report SEDCB League Cup Semi Final

Belhus won this tight, tense, hard fought 20/20 match to reach the cup final this Sunday against Rankins. Skipper Alex Blake won the toss for Belhus and chose to bowl. All the bowlers did a fine job. Alex Winder led the way with 3 wickets for 17. There wickets apiece for Sammy Fairweather, Charlie Ovey, Kaelan Casey,Reece Herbert and Alex Blake. Owen Williams made a smart run out and there were good catches by Herbert, Ovey, Healy and Lewis Blake. Callum Greene once again made runs for Orsett and Thurrock top scoring with 27 as the home side were bowled out for 82.

Belhus then batted with the captain Alex Blake leading by example making 25 with 3 fours and 1 six before retiring. Kaelan Casey made 11 with 2 fours but Orsett and Thurrock bowled tightly and the game became very close. With Henry Overy (14*) and Reece Herbert (6*) together Belhus reached the last over needing 7 to win. The visitors scrambled home with a bye of the last ball to win the game and secure their place in the final. These really are two fine well matched young teams who have recently played in two excellent close-fought matches. Belhus came out on top today but credit to Orsett and Thurrock for playing their part in a very close game.
