Belhus Cricket Club Won by 15 Runs

Match report Belhus squeezed home to win their final West Division League game against Wickford. Stand in skipper Alex Blake continuing in Teddy Waters's holiday absence, won the toss and inserted the visitors. Owen Williams struck early (1-6) as Robert Healy held a good catch behind the wicket but Wickford batted solidly making a steady total of 269 (netting back to 244) - there were also wickets for Alex Blake (1-4) who held two catches, Kaelan Casey (1-9) and Lewis Blake (1-9) who also grabbed a run out. Oliver Plunkett deserves credit for his 3 overs where he conceded just 2 runs with no wides or no balls. F.Coleman and T.Baker top scored for Wickford with 5 a piece. Belhus again gave up a lot of extras (41) but the bowling and fielding was fairly good and an improvement on Friday's sloppy effort.

Belhus were not at their best with the bat but Alex Blake hit a six in his unbeaten 10 to top score. Reece Herbert and Lewis Blake both made 8 not out, Henry Overy 7 not out and Kaelan Casey 6 not out. Belhus did have a wobble losing 6 wickets as Skerry took 2-11 but Belhus maintained a winning margin and cam home in front by 15 runs in the end. Tyler Robertson was unable to bat due to a hand injury sustained off the pitch in a non-cricket related accident.

This result means Belhus completed their league season winning 6 games out of 7. If all goes as anticipated they will finish second in the table and should now make the SEDCB League Semi Final play off v Rankins next Saturday.
