Belhus Cricket Club Lost by 46 Runs

Match report Belhus slumped to a disappointing and comprehensive defeat against a young but talented Goresbrook side on a glorious sunny evening at Belhus HQ.

Stand in skipper Kaelan Casey elected to field and Goresbrook tucked into some friendly bowling. Only Oliver Plunkett (1-3) conceded run at less 5.5 an over as Belhus slipped into bad old habits as 38 runs were gifted in wides and no balls. Poor lines and lengths allowed Goresbrook to hit 14 boundaries including a five as Belhus threw a boundary over the line for good measure. Ted Ivory enjoyed the generosity helping himself to three fours in his 26 not out. Andre Phalfick (20) and Tommy Smithy (20) also cashed in as Belhus conceded an eye watering 148 from their 20 overs. In addition to Plunkett's early strike there were wickets for Henry Overy, Callum Constantine, Ryan Sims and Aidan Fourie plus a run and catch for Sammy Fairweather and catches for Henry Overy (a good skier out of the sun) and Robert Healy but this was not a day to remember.

Belhus had a chance to redeem themselves with the bat and Kaelan Casey played well for 25 not out and Oliver Plunkett with 15 and Alex Winder 13 made good contributions but the Goresbrook bowlers were not as generous as the home side and the chase proved too much for Belhus. Goresbrook, a man short and in a team containing five Under 9's outplayed Belhus in all departments and thoroughly deserved their win with Grace Wood leading the way with the ball with 2-18.

Belhus can go away and reflect on where they need to improve after a pretty underwhelming performance compared to earlier matches in the season.
