Belhus Cricket Club Sunday 1st XI v HAINAULT & CHIGWELL* on Sun 11 Sep 1994 at 2pm
Belhus Cricket Club Lost By 39 Runs
Match report
Belhus lost to Hainault in the Trophy game, played at belhus park in what was an absolute Cracker of a low scoring game and most definitely a day for the bowlers, not doubt assisted by a very bowler friendly track.
Batting 1st Hainault were bowled out for 88 in 38.1 overs, tough going out there for the bastmen, but with over 40 on the board for the loss of no wickets Hainualt would have felt good and no doubt been looking at a reasonable total, with L.Wright making 32 of them, but that was until the introduction of one Jim Robertson as 2nd change bowler, who produced career best figure of 8 for 15 off 9.1 overs and 3 maidens to virtually bowl Hainualt out on his own, in what was a truly wonderful spell of bowling and sure you would think worthy of winning the game alone with those figures! C.Cansdale picking up 2 wikets also.
Unfortunately this was not to be the case and Robbo's celebrations were to be dampended by his Hainualt counterparts who obviously had ides of there own after see Jim's magic with the ball.
Our batters found the going even tougher and were humbled to 49 all out in 20.2 overs, as Neil Rounce and Dave Parry took to the stage, Rounce taking 4 for 13 off 10.2 overs 6 maidens and Parry picking up 5 for 33 off 10.
Only W.Read could put up any real resistance and he also scored 32 ( 4 fours 1 six) like Wright had done, but could find no help from his colleagues, J.Forrest next highest score with a boundary for 4, as we slumped to an amazing defeat, dispite Jim's heroics.
This game also brought up Wayne's 50 catch for the season.
