Wayne Morgan and Mark Williams were Basildon and Pitsea’s batting heroes as this last pair batted out the last thirteen overs to earn a draw at Ockendon Recreation ground on Saturday. Morgan, batting at number nine, finished on 34 not out, while last man Williams scored 11 not out to thwart Belhus. Alan Maidment was the otherwise strike bowler with 3-26 from ten overs while Sam Hall and Adam Dudmish picked up two wickets apiece.

Earlier, a fine 68 from Jack Day was supported by Zak Wilson’s 38, but these two potential match-winning performances were thwarted by the resolute defence of Morgan and Williams. Proper cricket at its best. Earlier, Morgan had picked up 3-40 while Williams and Anthony Ayres picked up two wickets each.
