Match report Belhus's winning run came to an end on Saturday against table-toppers Old Southendian & Southchurch.

Batting first on a hard, bouncy wicket, Belhus were in trouble at 40 for 3 and 109 for 5 even though Charlie Lewis (48) and Mark Sansom (38) batted well. At 134 for 7 things looked grim, but Mat Williams then joined Imran and proceeded to turn the innings around with a superb partnership of 137 for the 8th wicket. Williams' stylish 56 not out and Imran's blistering 79 not out were a pleasure to watch and allowed a declaration at 271 for 7 in the 45th over.

In reply, Old Souths, after early good fortune, chased down the total for just 1 wicket with Bull and Johnson scoring heavily against an attack lacking a spinner.

Funny old game,just when you think you've cracked it, it smacks you in the chops. There's always next week ... if it doesn't rain.
