Hainault 1st XI 177 (Dan Dreher 5-35)

The 1st XI Tied their second match in as many matches in an amazing SNEL game.

Belhus lost the toss and were invited to bat on a sticky wicket. It was a tough day at the office as the side struggled to 177-9 in the 50 overs permitted with no outstanding contributions.

With confidence high from the previous two weeks, victory remained the priority. However, Hainault had other ideas and the top six were good batsmen. The triumvirate of Norris, Dreher and Day chipped away and at 80-4 the game was in the balance. However, captain Ryan Hurst and former captain Yasin Patel batted well together and at 154-4 the game looked over. The fall of Patel however was to lead to an epic comeback from the Belhus Bowmen. Wickets continued to fall and going into the last over of the final hour, 2 wickets were required for victory with 4 needed for Hainault to claim the spoils. 3 runs were scored from the first 3 balls and all looked lost. Then a moment of panic followed by genius. Ahmad hit a ball towards Ryan Wells with everyone in the ring, a "yes" and a "no" later, Wells picked up and a direct hit resulted in a run out. Then, Omar Ahmad was facing and was jittery after running out his partner - and then Dan Norris completed the miracle by trapping him LBW to secure the Tie and a very important extra six points.

On top of this, being the First XI's second tie of the season, Hainault also had a same-score draw the weekend before. I'd imagine the odds of this happening would be huge. Dan Dreher was man-of-the-match scoring an important 17 before picking up 5 wickets, however it was a tremendous performance from the bowling unit.
