Orsett and Thurrock won this derby encounter at School Lane on Saturday with a solid team effort with the bat. Umar Ayab top scored with a fine 56 and there were other worthy contributions from Feeney, 33, Tyrone Owen who was undefeated on 26 not out, Mark O’Neill struck 39 and Greg Mendham contributed 23. Richard Waters claimed 3-32 for Belhus while Alan Maidment and Matthew Doran collected two wickets each.

After the break, Jack Plane and Michael Randall put on 80 for the first wicket as they scored 56 and 37 respectively. Then 14 years old Zak Wilson went past 1,000 runs for the season with a rapid 41. Billy Maidment scored 15 runs in a frantic cameo while Doran contributed 20. For the home side, Sultan bagged four wickets for just 21 runs from seven overs, one of which was a maiden.
