Batting first in this Sunday social fixture, our 2nd XI had collapsed to 81-7. But when Paul Whitlock joined Gavin Jefferies they completely turned the game around by adding a magnificent Club Record 8th Wicket Partnership of 151 to elevate us to a total of 239 for 8 after our allotted 40 overs. Paul crashed 11 fours and 7 sixes in registering his maiden century which was, then, the record highest score by a Belhus No.9 batsman. At the close Gavin, finished on 50 not out.

After tea, we bowled well to dismiss Mountnessing for 104 as Gavin completed a fine day's work in taking 2 for 5 and Ian Wright chipped in with 2 for 22. We cruised home to a comfortable 135-runs victory that noone could have remotely predicted a few hours earlier. It was a great win on a memorable day. Belhus at their very best.
