CHADWELL HEATH* v Belhus Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI on Sat 14 Aug 1999 at 1.30pm
Belhus Cricket Club Lost by 1 Wicket
Match report
In this Morrant League match at Seven Kings Park, our 3rd XI batted first and were soon perched quite happily on 22 for 1. But then came the 'Belhus Collapse' as we proceeded to lose 9 wickets for 21 runs to be bowled out for 43 in 32 overs. Harris bowled superbly in taking 7 for 10 in 16 overs.
In their run-chase after tea, Chadwell Heath were comfortably poised on 25 for 2. But then skipper Tony Udell and Jason Caparn bowled magnificently as CH experienced their very own collapse in losing 7 wickets for 9 runs and they were in desperate trouble at 34 for 9. Despite our best efforts, we couldn't dislodge No. 9 batsman Harris (who struck the winning runs to take man-of-the-match) and No. 11 batsman Baird who saw their side home to a 1 wicket win.
Undoubtedly one of the club's most memorable matches:
- 88 runs were scored in a total of 52 overs
- 25 maidens were bowled
- 19 wickets fell
- 6 Chadwell Heath batsmen were dismissed for 'ducks'
- only 3 boundary 4s were scored in the Belhus innings
- only 1 Belhus batsman reached double figures
- only 1 Chadwell Heath batsman reached double figures
- just 4 bowlers were used.
A remarkable match. Club cricket at its very best.
