Belhus Cricket Club Lost by 12 Runs

Match report Belhus, having won the West Division of the SEDCB Under 11 League, met Southend On Sea, winners of the East Division in a play off to see who would be outright winners of the SEDCB competition.

On a damp, sluggish outfield, Southend batted first and made steady progress only losing three wickets. L.Guyler top scored with 12 whilst there were 10 byes conceded and 31 wides bowled by Belhus - costly extras in the scheme of things. Alex Blake (1-5) and Serena Hand (1-4) were the Belhus wicket takers and Alex also contributed to the other wicket by making a fine run out.

In reply, Belhus found the going tough against an accurate Southend attack. Lewis Blake top scored with 7 and Tyler Robertson 3* was the next best as the heavy outfield took its toll on the Belhus ground shots. Belhus defended well throughout, only losing three wickets but the bowling of Scott (2-8) and less profligacy with wides and byes proved to be the difference as Southend won by 12 runs.

It was a fine effort to make this stage of the competition by a young Belhus squad who can be very proud of their season.
