Offham v Belhus Cricket Club Sunday 1st XI on Sun 23 May 2004 at 1pm
Belhus Cricket Club Lost by 107 Runs
Match report
Club records were racked up in this high-scoring friendly at the tiny Church Road ground in Offham, Kent. The small boundaries and a batsman-friendly artificial pitch played a key role in Offham racking up the 3rd highest score against Belhus of 376 for just 2 wickets.
Jim Robertson bowled Rothwell in the first over of the match and also the only maiden in the entire game but but this success was the last for us until the final over of the innings as England (197) and Taylor (109*) added 369 for the 2nd wicket (the highest partnership v Belhus in their history.)
Ryan Lucas did bowl England in the final over of the innings to deprive him of a double century but this was scant consolation as Lucas went for the highest number of runs conceded by a Belhus bowler (1-105). This is the highest scoring match in Belhus history with a total of 645 runs scored.
In reply, Nick Marns took advantage of the excellent conditions for batting making 125 (including 22 fours and 2 sixes - 100 runs in boundaries) as he and Peter Clark (58) added 184 for the 2nd wicket. The Belhus middle order fell away and despite a spirited 31 from Robertson, Belhus slid to a 107 runs defeat.
It was a tough bowling day for those with the Lucas surname, as S. Lucas sent down 12 wicketless overs for 73 runs for Offham. Combined figures of 24 overs, 0 maidens and 1 for 188 from the Lucas pair.
