Match report Belhus squeezed to a fine win in an excellent close contest at Horndon Rec. Bowling first after skipper Reece Herbert won the toss, Belhus had to be patient as Horndon batted well early on losing only two wickets in their first 17 overs but a late rally, including two fine run outs from Alex Blake and Teddy Waters, saw Belhus keep Horndon to a net score of 249-6. Alex also took a fine catch and bowled two very tidy overs going for just four runs. Brother Lewis was even more miserly conceding just two runs from his two overs. There were first club wickets for Serena Hand plus Callum Constantine and Damilare Odelusi grabbed a wicket apiece and Teddy Waters added a victim to his earlier run out.

In reply, Belhus got off to a poor start losing three wickets in their first three overs as Horndon bowler Luke took 3 wickets for just four runs. But Belhus rallied as Lewis Blake (11) and Ryan Sims (5) steadied the ship. Robert Healy, Serena Hand and Alex Blake all defended solidly not being dismissed to give Belhus a good chance of victory as last pair Teddy Waters and Tyler Robertson went in needing an unbeaten partnership of ten runs to nudge Belhus in front. Despite some fine bowling from Gus of Horndon, Waters and Robertson batted soundly and added 17 unbeaten runs to see Belhus to an eight-runs win. Teddy hit two fine boundaries in his 8 not out and Tyler made a gutsy 3 not out shaking off two painful blows to his hand and leg to help see Belhus to an exciting win. A good game played in excellent spirit and well hosted by Horndon who deserve much credit for a very enjoyable match.
