Match report In the first match of the 1988 Cricket Week, Belhus posted 186 for 6 and declared after 40 overs as Wayne Read top-scored with 51 not out.

In the run-chase, Springfield defended heroically for 45 overs but it was occasional bowler Terry Lambert Jnr who wrapped up their innings with an impressive 5 for 54 from his 17 overs (5 successive maidens). A fine start to the Cricket Week at Belhus Park.
