Belhus Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI v Wanstead and Snaresbrook 5th XI on Sat 16 Aug 2014 at 1pm
Belhus Cricket Club Lost by 6 Wickets
Match report
Having won the toss and electing to bat, skipper Jim Banner (34) and John Forrest (27) carved a fine opening partnership of 61. But after John Forrest was dismissed we failed to maintain the momentum, and apart from Mathwew Lewis Snr (27) our other batsmen made little contribution.
After the nice tea provided by Tracey Topp, Wanstead & Snaresbrook didn't really have too much trouble in chasing down the runs, and they won quite comfortably by 6 wickets as Faheem Aziz finished on 37 not out.
The match marked a welcome return to the field by Vic Davies who last played for the club nearly 20 years ago and who made his debut on 29th August 1964 against Pauters CC. Robert Waters was another comeback member of the team, not having played for some 10 years, whose debut for the club was on 26th July 1975 against Leigh Belfairs CC. Bravo.
