Match report The winning of the toss proved to be a crucial factor in this contest as the pitch at Fairlop Oak Playing fields had absorbed a huge amount of water during the days leading up to the match. Belhus were asked to bat first and all of the top order batsmen failed to get going in conditions were the ball kept low and at times moved prodigiously. The Wanstead and Snaresbrook seamers bowled immaculately. Apps taking 4 for 39 in 14 overs , Chesney-Browne taking 3 for 23 in 11 overs and Khan taking 3 for 1 in 7overs. Belhus at one stage looked likely to be dismissed for well under a hundred runs but vital runs were made by lower order batsmen Alan Maidment (16) and Paul Hal l (13 ).

A final total of 99 all out in 40 overs was always going to be very tough to defend on a wicket which by tea time had dried out considerably and was no longer offering such great assistance to the bowlers. Belhus would need quick wickets and the simply did not materialise. Griesel anchored the Wanstead innings , scoring 42. Keith Dhannie claimed 2 wickets in a long and accurate spell of bowling but in the end the home side cruised home in 30 overs.
