Our 1st XI were disappointed to lose the toss on a pleasant afternoon at North Stifford in this 50-overs SNEL match. After losing an early wicket, Alan Croft and Matthew Tarr carved a 124-runs 2nd wicket partnership to put Gidea Park & Romford in the driving seat, as Croft went on to reach a fine century. Connor Day and Daniel Dreher took 3 and 2 wickets respectively, but we couldn't prevent GPR posting a highly competitive total of 290.

In our run-chase, and after Ron Norris's excellent spread for tea including spicy vegetable samosas, skipper Danny Joyce and brother Joe got us off to the ideal start with an opening partnership of 85. An 89-runs partnership was then built between the skipper and Roy Heffernan taking us to 205 for 3 and putting us in a strong position to sprint down the home stretch. After Danny Joyce had completed his controlled century, Mathew Lewis Jnr and Martin Guilbert made their contributions to the run-chase leaving the stage clear for Dan Dreher to strike a six off the first ball of the final over as we clinched a 4-wickets win with just 3 balls to spare.

And our 291 for 6 set a new club record winning run-chase.
