Match report Not the most pleasant of days in which to play cricket - wind and rain and a couple of stoppages. West Essex batted first and found our bowlers in good form as they struggled to post a decent score. Mat Lewis Jnr and Connor Day took 3 wickets apiece and our usual wicketkeeper, Michael Fogg, took 4 excellent catches in the outfield. WE closed at 168 all out thanks only to Zia Anwar and Shahid Saeed who produced a cool and sensible 9th wicket partnership.

After a delightful tea, and with our innings reduced to 46 overs, openers Joe Joyce (48) and Martin Guilbert (22) laid a solid foundation that enabled skipper Danny Joyce (28 not out) and Mat Lewis Jnr (51 not out) to steer us home to a well-timed, 7 wickets victory in 34 overs.
