In reply, Ilford Catholic were coasting along at 118 without loss but after Cliff Cansdale broke the opening partnership, they lost wickets at regular intervals although Tomkins remained stubborn until the end with 64 not out and we won by 11 runs.

A very close match with spinner Cliff Cansdale taking the man-of-the-match prize for his 6 for 43. At last, a victory for our 1st XI. Well played.
