After an extensive training and development programme, the Belhus Ladies cricket team made their full debut in this twenty overs per side match at Upminster Park on Tuesday (16th July). The home side were the more experienced team, as opening batsman Jackie Hilton led the way by striking ten fours in an excellent innings of 53.

However, Belhus fought back well with some accurate bowling, as Crystal Gansbuhler, Tracey Sloan and Allison Edmeades bowled Amy Harvey, Lynsey Whitley and Lynn Kelly in quick succession as Upminster lost three wickets inside the first six overs. Number five bat Michelle Dixey steadied the Havering team's ship with an undefeated 24 not out while Ellie Davis finished unbeaten on 28.

After a very short break to counter the fast fading light, Edmeades top scored for Belhus with eleven runs which included one boundary, while Sarah Fergey and Sloan also reached the boundary on one occasion, before both fell to respective catches by Hilton and Davis from the bowling of Harvey. The prize wicket of Edmeades made it three victims for the bowler, whose treble cost just nine runs from a three over spell.
