Match report This Essex Senior Competition league match was one of the club's great matches. Our 2nd XI were shot out for 86 with only Colin Pennycook (33) and John Lewis Jnr (25 not out) making a contribution with the bat. D. Spurling was Little Thurrock's destroyer in taking 8 for 17 from 15 overs.

In reply and at 72 for 6, the odds were heavily stacked in favour of a Little Thurrock win. And although the scores then went level, LT still had 2 wickets left. But then our Brian Adams struck by taking the last two wickets - including clean-bowling their last batsman, D. Spurling, the earlier hero. Brian took 8 for 29 and a Tie was the result.

For two bowlers to each take 8 wickets in an innings is very, very rare - perhaps the only occasion in the club's history? A team photo was taken after the match (see our website - PHOTO GALLERIES - SENIOR TEAMS).
