Belhus Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI v RETTENDON* on Sat 03 Sep 1977 at 2pm
Belhus Cricket Club Won by 17 Runs
Match report
Belhus 2nd XI 107
Rettendon 90
In the final league match of the season, our 2nd XI's total of 107 seemed insufficient. But Robert Waters produced his career best return of 9 for 31 and we won by 17 runs. Mind you, we gave them 36 extras (33% of their total).
And 'Jacko' can blame himself for not taking all ten wickets. He had taken the first 9 wickets to fall when John Lewis Snr came in to bowl the last ball of his tenth over. The facing batsman (opener Aberhart) stroked the ball in the air to Jacko at square leg who dropped the catch. But then, as the batsmen attempted a run, Jacko hurled the ball at the bowler's end and ran out Aberhart with a direct hit - thus preventing himself from taking all 10 wickets! Hard luck Jacko - but well done.
