Match report Dick Bignell (60) and Bill Taylor (52) helped us to 152 for 6 declared at tea.

But we just couldn't winkle out Stones Athletic as they closed on 95 for 6. This was not untypical of drawn matches in the 1970s - if a side couldn't win, they would just dig in and hold out for a draw. Boring cricket to some perhaps, but the onus was also on us to bowl them out. We couldn't, so it was a draw - and everyone happily went off to the pub and had an enjoyable evening.
