Belhus Cricket Club Saturday 1st XI v ST. JOHN'S* on Sat 10 May 1975 at 2.30pm
Belhus Cricket Club Won by 22 Runs
Match report
Belhus 1st XI 51
St John's 1st XI 29
One of the great matches in the club's history. The 1st XI were dismissed for just 51 with only Dick Bignell (21) reaching double figures and 4 batsmen being dismissed for 'ducks'. Duhig bowled superbly to take 6 for 19.
In their reply after an early tea, St John's found themselves perched on 22 for 3 and we were still in with a shout. But then they proceeded to lose 5 wickets for 0 runs and totally collapsed to 29 all out - including 6 'ducks'.
Paul Appaloosa bowled magnificently (Paul, a West Indian, could be quite quick off of 7 paces) and took 8 for 12 in just 6.2 overs. In fact, he took 7 wickets in 23 deliveries - and he took a catch as well. Brilliant.
Of the 20 wickets to fall, 19 batsmen failed to reach double figures - and there were 10 ducks in total! A day to remember.
