Batting first on a hot afternoon, Belhus posted a very respectable total of 173 for 3 thanks to 50 not out from Stan Matthews, 44 from Denis Reed and 37 not out from Graham Cunliffe.

After tea, Don Pegler bowled magnificently to capture 7 for 12 from 12.2 overs and Tony Price held 3 catches. A marvellous performance by Belhus.
