Skippered by Jim Reed, this was the first 2nd XI match since 1962 (only a 1st XI was fielded in 1963 and 1964), and the first to be played on the new 2nd XI square at Belhus Park. And it was fitting that this inaugural match on the new pitch should produce such a memorable victory.

We batted first and were skittled out for a miserable 43 in 27 overs as Mallows took 5 for 16. But then after tea, paceman Charlie Veal bowled superbly to take 6 for 15 as we dismissed Noak Hill for just 36 to win by 7 runs! In the match, only 2 batters reached double figures.

A great win by Belhus.
