Belhus Cricket Club Sunday 2nd XI v HEATHCOTIANS*** on Sun 24 Sep 1961 at 2.30pm
Belhus Cricket Club Lost by 4 Runs
Match report
Heathcotians 87
Belhus 2nd XI 83
In their last match of the 1961 season, played at Belhus Park, our 2nd XI dismissed Heathcotians CC for 87 after our medium-pacer Albert Braybrook had taken all 10 Heathcotians wickets. And in his 18.3 overs, Albert wasn't hit for a single boundary.
In our run-chase ater tea, we were coasting to victory with the scoreboard showing 77 for 5 - and only 11 runs needed for victory with 5 wickets in hand. But, alas, a 'Belhus Collapse' occurred as we lost 5 wickets for 6 runs to be dismissed for 83 and lose by 4 runs.
So despite a return of 18.3 OVERS - 8 MAIDENS - 10 WICKETS - 18 RUNS, poor Albert finished on the losing side!
One of the most memorable matches in the Club's history.
