Our 'local derby' matches against Aveley (with whom we used to share the pitch at Belhus Park until that club folded in the early 1970s) were always keenly fought. And this match was no exception.

Batting first, our batsmen could only muster a miserable 65 all out but, after tea, we captured 8 of Aveley's wickets 8n their run-chase - it was only No. 5 batsman B. Foster, who was not out 28 at the close, who prevented us from what would have been a great victory.
