Ashford Town (Kent) v Belhus Cricket Club Youth Tour on Fri 09 Aug 2013 at 1pm
Belhus Cricket Club Lost by 9 Wickets

Match report Belhus U13 134-9 dec
Ashford Town U13 137-2

The tourists completed their five-day tour of Sussex and East Kent with a visit to the strong Ashford Town club on Friday, the match being sponsored by Mr. Pickwick's Fish and Chips of Stifford Clays, Grays. The hosts looked a quality outfit and every bit an equal match for the Belhus squad. Ashford looked very sharp; in contrast and perhaps unsurprisingly, the visitors were showing signs of fatigue. Zak Wilson weathered the storm of the home opening attack and eventually accumulated 22 runs, until he was caught by Omkaar Divkar off the bowling of James Murphy. Wilson was exceptionally patient and showed good concentration and technique; he struck two fours in the process. His was the eighth wicket to fall with the Belhus score on 106. Joshua Reynolds and Liam Waters both contributed 15, while there was a rear-guard action from Jamie Fairweather and Billy Turley. Fairweather hit two boundaries in his 14 not out, while Billy Turley's cameo included two fours to leave him undefeated with nine runs to his name. For Ashford Town, sixth change bowler Jo Munday enjoyed the most success with the ball, his two overs claimed three wickets at a cost of just two runs.

Home openers Divkar and Stracey were a class above the tourists in the batting stakes. Both were compulsorily retired when they reached the 50 mark in close succession. Divkar hit nine fours; Stracey one fewer. It was not until 117 runs had been posted that Ashford Town lost their first wicket when number three batsman Oliver Chandler was bowled by fifth change Billy Turley (1-9) with the fourth delivery of his second over. The only other wicket to fall was claimed when Archie Butler-Gallie was run out for just a single, courtesy of an underarm throw to the bowler's end from Jude Ranson.

The match was twelve players per side, maximum of 35 overs per side with no bowler being able to bowl more than five overs. This match was the final fixture of the 2013 youth tour and ended with various presentations to our hosts as well as the usual "player of the match" awards. Among the presentations were special awards given to Richard Waters and Mark Winter, for organising the tour, as thoughts turned to the prospect of another youth tour next season.
