The Belhus youngsters stormed to an emphatic nine-wicket win over Harold Wood in the Essex U16 Matchplay competition at North Stifford on Sunday. Openers Ben Kent and Mathew Lewis junior put on 128 for the first wicket, until Lewis was caught close to the deep mid-wicket boundary by Moore for 57, having struck eight fours and one six. But Kent remained at the crease to see Belhus home with 66 not out, hitting ten fours.

Earlier, Moore, opening the batting for the visitors, struck a fine 61 as he quickly latched on to anything short of a good length. But some exceptionally tight bowling from Jack Martin Hussey, who conceded just nine runs off seven overs, five of which were maidens, as well as Matthew Williams, seven runs from six overs (three maidens), put Wood on the back foot. Martin-Hussey and Williams picked up two wickets each. Opening bowler Lewis steamed in from the Chafford end to claim 3-26 from eight overs which included one maiden while Sam Hall provided valuable support with 2-26 from seven overs. Tyler Kohl, from the Belhus U12 group, picked up 1-11 from two overs.
