The joint leaders of division three of the Shepherd Neame Essex League met each other at Wickford Memorial Park on Saturday, with Belhus emerging as victors with just five balls remaining. Belhus required five runs to win from the final over and matters were promptly resolved when, from the first ball, Keith Dhannie struck the ball down the ground for six to claim the match in style. Earlier, 69 runs from Stuart Morris together with a solid 42 from opener Peter Clark laid the foundations for the visitors as Brian Edwards finished on 26 not out and Dhannie's match conclusion saw him close with 18 not out.

In the Wickford innings, Sam Hall, who was on a hat-trick at one stage, picked up 3-28 from eight overs (one maiden) while all-rounder Dhannie returned 2-36 from 16 overs, six of which were maidens. For the home side, opening batsman Jack McCarthy fell just 13 runs short of a century and Neale Anderson hit 47.
