Hornchurch won the toss and decided to put Belhus in to bat. Joe Joyce was dismissed just one run short of a century at Harrow Lodge Park on Saturday and, in so doing, became only the third Belhus member to have been dismissed on 99 in the club's history. The previous two instances were David Webb in an U15 Peters Cup match at Hutton in 1981 and Martin Guilbert suffered the same fate more recently, in 2007. But it will probably not affect Joyce too much as the net result in this Shepherd Neame Essex League division two clash was victory by quite a margin - 153 runs. Ryan Wells provided strong support with 82 runs to his name as Belhus built their unassailable score.
