Pegasus & Corringham v Belhus Cricket Club Under 15 Bombers on Tue 14 Aug 2012 at 5.30pm
Belhus Cricket Club Lost by 14 Runs

Match report Pegasus and Corringham U15B 125-4
Belhus U15B 111-6

In their penultimate South Essex league match at Herd Lane, the Belhus U15B team produced arguably their best performance of the season. Joseph Clarke was on a hat-trick when he took two wickets with the first two balls of his fourth over. The vital third ball, although accurate, was successfully defended by the incoming batsman. Clarke finished on 2-19 from four overs, the fourth ended up being a double wicket maiden. George Maidment also shone with the ball, as his first two overs went for just eight runs, the second of which was a maiden. But off his third, 17 runs were scored as he finished with 1-32, also from four overs.

In a match which was watched in part by radio reporters from Heart FM and BBC Essex, as well as local dignatories including Baroness Angela Smith, Stephen Metcalfe MP and the Leader of Thurrock Council, who were attending a presentation in the clubhouse, Pegasus opener Will Slaughter reached the compulsory retirement mark of 35, his innings included four boundaries. Number three batsman Jamie Gray hit one six and four fours in a fine knock of 32, which was ended when he played across the line to a straight delivery from George Maidment and was trapped leg before. Owen Moore was the third of three home batsmen in double figures with an undefeated 15. For Belhus, Cameron Blake supported George Maidment and Clarke with 1-25 from four overs.

After the break, our players were surprised and most grateful to receive hot dogs as part of the between-innings refreshments. After the early loss of Joshua Reynolds in the first over, his replacement, Billy Maidment showed his developing talent with the bat with a personal best knock of 31. Toby Reynolds hit eleven runs as Belhus made a strong, if unsuccessful, challenge to the Pegasus score.

For the home side, Stubbings returned 1-22 from four overs, King picked up 1-19 from three overs and Slaughter completed a fine all-round performance with 1-16, also from three overs. Cable and Kirby also took one wicket apiece.

We would like to thank the Pegasus and Corringham cricket club for their excellent hospitality shown to us this evening.
