A superb innings from Buckhurst Hill's opener Shaid Mohammed virtually matched the total of the entire Belhus team at South Ockendon Recreation Ground on Saturday. Shaid was caught by John Wilson off the bowling of Ellis Stevens, just three runs shy of a century. But number three batsman Atul Sharma picked up the mantle and scored a further 77 runs, to enable the visitors to declare after just 40.1 overs.

In reply, only four Belhus batsmen reached double figures as the home side were unable to save the game. Wilson top scored with 27 and Ben Kent hit 20. Peter Clark contributed 18 runs and opener Amit Gohil scored ten, but they were unable to conceal the ability gulf between the two teams on this showing. Mohammed Ali and Ash Mohammed picked up 3-15 and 3-8 respectively while, for Belhus, Kent collected 3-35 from six overs. Elliott Playle returned 2-58 from 12 overs, which encouragingly included three maidens against the normally free-scoring Buckhurst Hill team, while Stevens and Lee Hawkes picked up one wicket each.
